Grand Knight’s Corner

It is an honor to be elected to Jamestown KC Council #1883 Grand Knight. I am looking forward to working with all of my KC brothers, spouses, families and friends for the next two years.

For those of you who do not know me, I moved to Jamestown about 3 years ago from Fargo to begin my career at Jamestown College teaching in the Psychology Department.  I have been active with the KCs for approximately 13 years.  This is my second stint as Grand Knight with my first Grand Knight appointment being at the Newman Center Council (NDSU).  I have also been quite active at the State Level.  I have served as the State Youth Activity Chairmen for the past 8 years and have been appointed as the State Program Chairmen for the next two years.

My family consists of my beautiful wife Brenda and our 2 children Alexis (6 years old) and Cooper (4 years old).

Due to the generosity of those who support our club, the KCs are able donate a substantial amount of money to various programs and organizations throughout the year.  I have  decided to add a section to the newsletter that involves who the KCs have been able to help out in July.

- Special Olympics, Buffalo City Lions, Jamestown Area Grief Support, Jamestown Mayor Partnership Committee, ND Patriot Guard, FACE, Buffalo City Gun Club, Anne Carlson, El Zagal Clowns (Shriner’s Hospital), Sandborn Park Board, and Montpelier School.

“Come to me all who are weary and find life burdensome,

And I will refresh you.  Take my yoke upon your shoulders

And learn from me, for I am gentle and humble at heart.

Your souls will find rest, for my yoke is easy and my burden

Light”  (Mt 11:28-30).

Facelift to the Club

The club got a little bit of a facelift to the entryway area with wainscoting and fresh paint.  New tile is coming shortly!  A big thanks to Randy Neva and Kevin Leismeister for their tremendous work on this project.

North Dakota KC Scramble

The 9th annual State KC Golf Scramble will be taking place on August 12th at Crossroads Golf Course in Carrington, ND.  Shotgun start is at 11:15 (registration begins at 10:30).  Cost is $45 per person.  Rumor has it that the course is in fantastic shape (although that was before the monsoons went through ).  It should be in great shape and the proceeds to a great cause (KC foundation which gives its proceeds to the seminarians).  Included in the $45 entry fee is 18 holes of golf (with hole prizes), and a great meal to follow.  Please consider going up to Carrington if you have never golfed in this event before and support your KC foundation.

Prayer Requests

I decided to add a prayer requests section to the newsletter.  If you would like to add any prayer requests in the future please contact me (bkirkeby@jc.edu or 368-1576).
